In the kitchenware industry, dishwasher safety is the measure of a material's "environmental stress resistance." During a standard cycle, items are exposed to water temperatures exceeding 65°C, high-alkaline detergents, and rapid drying phases. For high-performance products—such as specialized polymers, tempered glass, or powder-coated stainless steel—this resistance is achieved through advanced material selection and bonding techniques. "Dishwasher safe" means the material will not undergo hydrolysis (chemical breakdown by water), warping from heat, or crazing (tiny surface cracks). This ensures that a container's lid still fits perfectly and a plate's decorative glaze remains vibrant even after hundreds of cleaning cycles.
Validation through the High Performance Mark
By meeting selected technical benchmarks, your kitchenware products become eligible for the Intertek High Performance (HP) Mark’s Dishwasher Safe. We apply the applicable sections of EN 12875; section 4 for ceramicware and section 1 for other material types. Both must attain a classification rating of ‘0’ i.e. no visible change after testing.
This mark serves as a ‘proof of performance’ by validating that your product meets the High-Performance Mark standards. You can display the mark on product tags, brochures, packaging, websites, and in both online and offline stores across multiple channels, confidently signal to consumers that the performance claims of your products are verified.
